About the Event
This interactive site tour bridges the gap between architectural construction documents and structural life-safety on the fabrication floor. Architects will examine the physical execution of structural design, observing how raw steel sections are transformed into code-compliant, load-bearing assemblies. Participants will trace the lifecycle of structural steel from digital coordinate inputs to final non-destructive weld testing. The course emphasizes structural stability, seismic and wind load resistance, and compliance with the International Building Code (IBC) and AISC standards. Attendees will also review the application of high-performance coatings, fire-retardant preparation, and sustainable material tracking. This knowledge helps minimize field errors, protect indoor air quality, and safeguard public welfare. (1.5 HSW)
